Paint your values: Handball and much more

Generation Handball is a handball festival, but it is also much more than handball and playing with a ball. It is also about play in general, friendship, and values.

Discovering values
Of course handball is the centre of attention when Generation Handball attracts thousands of kids and young people from all over the world to the big handball festival in Viborg. But there is even more to it: It is also about friendship, about having fun, and about discovering which values we wish to live our lives by. During the six days of handball festival, the participants play handball and enjoy many other activities and events based on the three pillars of Generation Handball: FUN, FIGHT FRIENDSHIP.

In 2019, Generation Handball introduces an entirely new concept when the participants get to use all their creative abilities on a big wall. The wall is composed of the unique Danish system Gridmo, which is designed by Peter Lassen who is also the man behind the famous Montana bookshelves. Generation Handball encourages all participants to share their most inner thoughts about values with each other in order to put value talks on top of mind.

Value talk across language barriers
When handball players from 19 countries meet in week 31, they do not necessarily speak the same languages. However, one way to circumvent language barriers is to speak the common language of art as we all can understand drawings and paintings.
Handball players from the local professional handball club Viborg HK make the very first brushstrokes when Paint your values is initiated on Monday during dinner in the food hall. Moreover, the local artist Jimi Holstebro will guide and inspire the participants on how to express their values and dreams as drawings or paintings. The Paint your values events take place in the party tent on the festival site.

We hope that all participants join this new concept to put focus on values. Hopefully, it will inspire lots of future talks between friends and teammates as well. Everyone who participates in Paint your values also joins the competition for Nordisk Film cinema tickets for his/her handball team if they register with the GH staff available. The winner will be found on Thursday 1 August after the last session of Paint your values.
